how to use

Directions

Insertion:

  • Before first-time use, boil the cup in water for 20 minutes.
  • Wash your hands before you begin.
  • To prepare for insertion, start by folding the cup. The most popular is the ‘C Fold’ method: pinch the cup together and fold it in half.
  • Try different positions to help you relax, such as sitting on the toilet, lying down, or standing up.
  • Insert the cup inside, aiming towards your lower back, not straight up.
  • Once the cup is fully inserted, release and allow the cup to open up. The stem of the cup may stick out for some people. If you would like, you can trim the stem to a length that suits you.
  • To ensure a proper suction seal has been created, run your finger around the base of the cup to ensure there are no folds or dents.
  • Wear for up to 12 hours.

Removal:

  • Wash hands before removing.
  • Gently pinch the base of the cup to break the suction seal, then slowly and carefully pull it out.
  • Do not pull on the stem as this can cause suction and discomfort.
  • Empty the cup into the toilet or sink.
  • Rinse with cold water and then wash with warm water using a mild, unscented soap.
  • Re-insert, or if you have finished your period, boil the cup in water for 5-10 minutes to disinfect it before storing it for your next cycle.

Frequently asked

Are Grace & Green's period products hypoallergenic?

Grace & Green's products are hypoallergenic, made from 100% certified organic cotton, and free from toxins, chemicals, dyes, and fragrances. Grace & Green products are especially suitable for people with sensitive skin types.

Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes! Grace & Green products are produced without animal by-products or animal-derived ingredients and they don’t test on animals or ask third parties to test on animals on their behalf.

Why organic?

Most conventional products are made from a blend of GM (genetically modified) cotton, rayon, and potentially harmful chemical additives.

Grace & Green's collection uses organic cotton certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), ICEA and carries the seal of organic cotton. They also use organic bamboo certified by OEKO-TEX®.

Organic raw materials create safer period products that are gentle on your skin. Free from toxins, chemicals, dyes, and fragrance. Grown without toxic chemicals, organic crops promote better soil and air quality, and is less water and energy intensive than conventionally grown cotton or bamboo.

Organic farming creates better health standards for farmers and their surrounding communities, and preserves land quality for future generations.

What is the packaging made from?

All of Grace & Green’s products are packaged in recyclable and biodegradable FSC-certified cardboard packaging and printed with vegetable-based ink.

What is Grace & Green’s annual carbon footprint?

Grace & Green are certified carbon-neutral, meaning that the carbon footprint of their company, its products and production has been calculated on the basis of internationally recognised standards and fully offset by supporting climate action projects. They are working with Climate Partner to ensure they are completely transparent in displaying how they offset their carbon footprint.

Is Grace & Green a sustainable company?

Grace & Green was built with sustainability embedded at its core. They are the highest-scoring BCorp in disposable period care in the world, with a score of 146.5, this means they rank the highest across their impact for people and planet. Their founder Fran undertook three years of intense research and development, to launch the brand in 2019, ensuring that the products were sourced and produced ethically and sustainably at every step of the supply chain. One of the key decisions was to use organic cotton and bamboo for their products, which as well as requiring less water and no pesticides to grow, have a significantly lower carbon footprint compared with conventionally grown crops. They practice responsible and energy-efficient manufacturing using renewable hydroelectric power.

How much carbon could be saved by switching to Grace & Green?

Switching to Grace & Green could help reduce your menstrual carbon footprint. For example, organic cotton produces 46% less CO2 than traditional cotton and fast-growing bamboo absorbs 30% more CO2 than hardwood trees.

Good, aesthetically pleasing products!

Sarah M

Amazing products and smooth delivery. I’ve now purchased several items across the range (pads, liners, tampons, and now a cup!) and I love the colour coded boxes.

Angel C

Beautiful and thoughtful packaging; everything was recyclable and packed in such a lovely way it felt like I was receiving a gift. The geranium & rosehip soap bar smells great, and the detailed instructions booklet that came with my rosewater period cup was welcome.
