Your thyroid helps regulate metabolism and influences numerous processes throughout the body. When thyroid activity changes, the effects can appear in different ways, including changes in energy, body weight, mood, heart rate and how well you tolerate heat or cold. Because these symptoms can overlap with many other conditions, testing provides objective information about your thyroid hormone levels.

The Thyroid Function Blood Test measures TSH, FT4 and FT3. Looking at these markers together provides a more detailed view of thyroid activity and how your body is regulating thyroid hormones than considering symptoms alone. The test uses one finger-prick blood sample which can be collected conveniently at home.
