If you still have periods, collect your finger-prick blood sample on day three of your menstrual cycle. Day one is the first day of your period. If you no longer have periods, follow the collection instructions supplied with your kit.

What does the Menopause Hormone Blood Test measure?

The test measures two key reproductive hormones: follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinising hormone (LH). Changes in these hormones can provide useful insight into hormonal changes associated with menopause and perimenopause.

Can this test diagnose menopause?

No blood test can diagnose perimenopause or menopause on its own. Your results can provide useful information about your hormone levels and should be considered alongside your age, symptoms, menstrual cycle and medical history.

When should I take the test?

If you are still having periods, your sample should be collected on day three of your menstrual cycle, with day one being the first day of bleeding. If you have recently stopped hormonal contraception or HRT, Vitall recommends waiting until your cycles have become regular again before testing.

Can I take the test after stopping contraception?

If you have recently stopped hormonal contraception or hormone replacement therapy, it is recommended that you wait until your periods have returned to a regular cycle before taking the test.

How do I collect my sample?

The test can be completed at home using a simple finger-prick blood sample. Once collected, your sample is returned to the laboratory using the tracked return service provided.

How quickly will I receive my results?

Vitall states that results are available in as little as 24 hours once your sample has reached the laboratory for analysis. Your results are provided digitally with information explaining your individual hormone markers.
